What is KAP?
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is a therapeutic approach that combines the administration of ketamine, a dissociative anesthetic, with traditional psychotherapy sessions. In this treatment, ketamine is used in sub-anesthetic doses to create a state of altered consciousness, which can help patients access and process difficult emotions, memories, and thoughts in a therapeutic setting.
KAP is often used to treat conditions such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other mental health disorders, particularly when traditional treatments have been ineffective. The therapy is guided by a licensed mental health professional who helps the patient navigate their experiences during and after the ketamine session, facilitating deep psychological healing and transformation.
What is Naltrexone?
Naltrexone is medication for treating alcohol use disorder (AUD). The American Medical Association (AMA) recommends naltrexone in their guide for physicians, saying "Naltrexone blocks the euphoric effects of alcohol and feelings of intoxication and allows patients to reduce alcohol use by removing the perceived 'reward' of consumption." Naltrexone is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to help people stop drinking or cut back on drinking, as well as to reduce alcohol cravings.
